Wimbledon champion Pat Cash will be in Cannes during MIPIM 2020, appearing at an annual charity tennis tournament.
The MIPIM Tennis Classic 2020, in association with Towergate Insurance, returns to Cannes Tennis Club for the sixth year on Wednesday 11 March, from 9am to 12.30pm.
Cash, 54, who took men’s tennis’ top prize at the All England Club in 1987 and was part of two Davis Cup winning teams will be supporting the exclusive doubles tournament played in aid of three charities; LandAid, Bright Ideas for Tennis and the Cannes Community Fund.
The winners of the tournament will lift the #MakeaRacket Shield, presented by Pat Cash. He said: “I’m really excited to be coming down to Cannes to support the annual MIPIM Tennis Classic and raise money for three fantastic charities.
“It’s my first time being involved and I’m looking forward to raising money to improve the lives of those less fortunate. It’s a great tournament – you’ll be able to recognise the players as they’ll be sporting my black and white check headbands".
“It promises to be a great morning of tennis. I can’t wait to get on court and present the #MakeaRacket Shield to the tournament winners!”
Compered once again by former professional tennis player and TV personality Dan Lobb, players will get a grandslam feel with tennis giant HEAD providing pro balls for the tournament.
AshbyCapital, Folio UK, Herman Miller, JPW Real Estate, London at MIPIM, Ringley, The Lorenz Consultancy, WhatHouse.com and 001 Ltd and are also supporting the tournament.
Entry for each player is £1,000. Spectators are also welcome to watch the action. Tickets, which include light refreshments and canapes, cost just £60. All proceeds from player and spectator entries go to the three charities.
